The experience
We will leave from your hotel in Puerto Natales towards the Cueva del Milodón. Upon arrival we will undertake a walk of half an hour to reach the place, where many years ago where discovered the skin and fresh bones of a prehistoric species, the milodón, as well as the remains of other extinct animals, such as the dwarf horse, the bear, the panther and the saber-toothed tiger.
Then we will go to Cerro Castillo, to stop at a coffee house and continue towards the Lago Sarmiento viewpoint. After that we will enter the Torres del Paine National Park. for the Laguna Amarga entrance and walk 15 minutes to the Salto Grande, on the Paine River. At lunch time you will have the option to eat at Lake Pehoé, after which we will continue to Lake Gray, to see the beach and contemplate the glacier in the distance.
Finally we will return to Puerto Natales around 19:30 hrs.
We leave from your hotel at approximately 6:30 am and go to the border to Argentina. Once in the neighboring country, the dominant landscape will be the Patagonian steppe.
During the tour it will be possible to see the distance between Argentino lake and the Santa Cruz River that reaches the Atlantic Ocean. We will arrive to El Calafate and then begin the excursion to the Perito Moreno glacier.
We will arrive to Los Glaciares National Park and climb the stairs that join different viewpoints to see the Perito Moreno. There we have 2 hours to cross the place and see the landscape.
The return to Puerto Natales is done by the same way to take you to your hotel.
Departure from your hotel at approximately 06:30 am we will go to the pier of Puerto Natales. On the way it is possible to see the buildings belonging to the Bories refrigerator, which was one of the largest meat processing industries in Patagonia. Also you can see colonies of Imperial Cormorants, a small colony of sea lions and a variety of Coigues, Canelos, Lengas, Ñire, Chilco and El Calafate among others.
The Balmaceda glacier can be seen from the ship, however, to visit the Serrano glacier is necessary to make a 20 minute walk along a path that borders a small lake originated by the melting of the glacier.
14:00: We are back at your hotel.
At the agreed time (6.45 or 13.15 hours) we'll pick you up at your hotel in Punta Arenas to go to the Prat Pier, where we will board the Fiordos del Sur II catamaran, which will take us to navigate through Magdalena Island. We will cross the Strait of Magellan and, after an hour and a half of navigation, we'll have arrived at the island.
We'll disembark to visit the Los Pingüinos Natural Monument, where between 30,000 and 40,000 Magellanic penguins live on the island to nest, whose chicks are born in the summer season. We will walk along the path in the direction of the lighthouse, which is a National Historic Monument, closely appreciating these birds.
After an hour on the island, we will return to the ferry that will take us back to the Prat Pier and, from there, we will take you to your hotel.
